In June 2024, the Forum for African Women Educationalists of Zambia (FAWEZA), with support from the Mastercard Foundation Bursary Support Programme, successfully conducted a strategic engagement with TEVET Institutional Heads and administrators. The meeting focused on the popularization of FAWE Models, designed to strengthen inclusive and supportive education.

The engagement brought together representatives from 11 partner TEVET institutions working closely with FAWEZA to expand access to education while ensuring learners receive holistic support beyond bursaries.
Speaking during the meeting, FAWEZA Board Chairperson, Professor Enala T. Mwase, emphasized that financial aid alone is not enough.
“If we are to see young people truly thrive, there is need for comprehensive psychosocial support systems, development of life skills, and emotional wellbeing support,” she said.
She highlighted that these are key elements embedded in FAWEZA’s models to ensure sustained impact beyond the lecture room
FAWEZA Executive Director, Mr. Costern Kanchele, provided an overview of FAWEZA’s work under the Second Chance Pathways Programme, urging heads of institutions to actively support the rollout of the FAWE models. He stressed that collaboration remains central to the success of these initiatives.

Adding to the discussions, FAWEZA National Executive Vice Chairperson, Dr. Audrey Mwansa, shared insights into the Gender Responsive Pedagogy for TVET (GRP4TVET) Model, noting its critical role in fostering inclusive and equitable learning environments.
Meanwhile, FAWEZA Programmes Manager, Ms. Ivy Mutwale, gave a detailed presentation on the Extended Orientation Programme (EOP) and the Tuseme Model. She outlined expectations from partner institutions in effectively implementing these transformative models, which empower learners with psychosocial support, life skills, and financial literacy.
