On the International Day of Education which fell on 24th January, 2025, the Forum for African Women Educationalists of Zambia (FAWEZA) reaffirmed its commitment to bridging the digital divide by distributing laptops, USB flash drives, backpacks, and earphones to Mastercard Foundation participants at Lusaka Business and Technical College.

Under the theme “AI and Education: Preserving Human Agency in a World of Automation,” this initiative equips vulnerable students with essential digital tools for success in an evolving world. FAWEZA Board Chairperson, Professor Enala Tembo Mwase, emphasized that these gadgets unlock limitless potential, empowering students academically and technologically.

Lusaka Business and Technical College Principal, Mr. Lawrence Zulu, expressed gratitude, highlighting the critical role of such support in ensuring students continue their education.

FAWEZA’s work, alongside initiatives like Mastercard Foundation Bursary Support Programme, is key to reducing barriers to education, particularly in underserved communities such as rural and peri-urban areas in Zambia.

FAWEZA usefully distributed laptops and other education material to 200 students that were selected under the 2024 Mastercard Foundation Bursary Support  program in all  ten Institutions that were selected in the 10 provinces providing STEM courses.
