FAWEZA Announces 182 Successful Candidates for 2026 Mastercard Foundation TVET Bursary (Cohort 3)

Lusaka, Zambia – 23rd March 2026
The Forum for African Women Educationalists of Zambia (FAWEZA), with support from the Mastercard Foundation through FAWE Africa, is pleased to announce the selected participants for the 2026 FAWE/MASTERCARD FOUNDATION TVET BURSARY SUPPORT – COHORT 3.
This seven-year bursary initiative is designed to create innovative pathways to tertiary education and dignified employment for marginalized young women and men across Africa. In Zambia, the programme targets youth aged 17–25 who have completed secondary education and require support to transition into tertiary education, particularly in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) programmes.
Key Highlights from the Selection Process:
  • Increased Interest: FAWEZA received 824 applications for this cohort, reflecting a 7.85% increase from 2025.
  • Gender Balance: Applicants comprised 569 females (69%) and 255 males (31%).
  • Inclusivity: The programme maintained its commitment to equity, with 53 refugee applicants and 30 Persons With Disabilities (PWDs) among the pool.
  • Successful Candidates: Following a rigorous, transparent, and multi-stakeholder selection process, 182 applicants have been selected to benefit from the programme.
A Message from Leadership Costern Kanchele, Executive Director of FAWEZA, congratulated the successful candidates: “Your selection is testament of your resilience, determination, and potential. This opportunity is not only a pathway to education and skills development but also a foundation for transforming your lives and enabling you to contribute meaningfully to national development.”
