The Forum for African Women Educationalists (FAWE), in partnership with the Mastercard Foundation, is delighted to announce the application period for the Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) Bursary Programme for the Academic Year 20261.
This Education Bursary Programme is aimed at increasing access to tertiary education1. We are offering 200 bursaries for the third cohort, with a focus on supporting participants interested in pursuing Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) related courses at selected Technical Vocation Education Training institutions in Zambia.
Key Program Targets:
- Gender Balance: 80% of the bursaries are allocated for young women and 20% for young men.
- Vulnerability Focus: The program specifically targets participants facing the highest social and economic barriers. We strongly encourage applications from young people living with disabilities, refugees, those infected or affected by HIV/AIDS, and orphans (total or partial).
- Reserved Spaces: 10-15% of the spaces are reserved for Persons With Disability (PWD) and 20% for refugees.
Eligibility Snapshot:
To be eligible for the TVET Bursaries at FAWE Zambia, applicants must meet the following core criteria:
- Age: Be aged between 15 and 25 years at the time of application.
- Education: Must have Grade 9 or Grade 12 Ordinary Level.
- Admission Status: Must have an acceptance letter to pursue a STEM-related Craft or Diploma course at one of the partner institutions for the 2026 academic year.
- Exclusivity: Must NOT be a beneficiary of any other bursary or scholarship scheme.
- Commitment: Must be willing to give back to their community through development or volunteer services after completing their studies.
Successful applicants will receive comprehensive financial, academic, and Psychosocial support for the entire duration of their academic program.
Application Process and Deadline:
The application form is free of charge. Applicants are advised to clearly read and understand the application guidelines before filling in the forms.
Mandatory requirements include:
- A fully completed application form.
- An admission letter from any of the listed partner institutions.
- Proof of Grade Nine or Twelve results attached to the application.
- Proof of vulnerability (e.g., Death Certificate for parents/Guardians, Letter from Traditional Leaders, Social Welfare Report, the Church, or the accepting institution, or proof of Refugee Status).
Submission Locations:
All applications must be submitted in full to one of the following locations:
- The above listed partner institutions.
- District Education Board Secretary Offices in Serenje, Ndola, Lusaka, Livingstone, Mongu, Mpika, and Kasama.
- FAWEZA Regional Offices in Ndola, Kasama, and Lusaka.
The deadline for applications is 17:00 hours, Friday 18th December 2025, after which no applications will be accepted. Please note that only shortlisted candidates will be contacted for interviews, and all submitted documents will be subjected to thorough verification, including home visitation, before final approval.
